The painting is a tribute to the deity Oshun who is represented as the life-giving river. Her peacock is a symbol of her selfless sacrifice for humanity.

Once a year, a remarkable journey unfolds as individuals from the farthest reaches of the African diaspora converge in the bustling city of Osogbo, Nigeria. They are drawn by an ancient call, a spiritual summons, that leads them to the mystical waters of the Oshun River. Here, they undertake a sacred ritual to honor and renew a divine pact between mankind and the Orisha Oshun.

This annual pilgrimage to the Oshun River is a testament to the deep-rooted bond between humans and the divine. It is a journey of faith, a celebration of ancestral wisdom, and a renewal of a sacred promise.
